Hi

I care about two baby pigeons, about 24 days old, as i checked the internet about the age and it looks like 24 days old now.. I wonder if the 24 days old pigeons can eat on their own with the pigeon seeds..

My son found them .. and they are used to my son 's taming and not scared.. they 'd not fly high yet but little...so, other kids from school, bothered them and some of them destoryed other nest with the eggs.. i feel I should protect them by taking them home safety without the other children harming them... i have the food that I bought... not sure if they are ready to eat them for their age or do they still need me to feed them by mouth? Please give me the advice.

Thank you

Suza,
I am sure it's Carlos baby again. Pigeons are incredible "loyal" - they live completely monogam besides the men having girlfriends but mating they do at home and only with one.
And when they have bred once - they are returning to this breeding place again.
Greetings,
Petra

Hiya pigeonwriter,
They still hang out on our balcony, looks like they've made it their home, and a mysterious 4th pigeon joined the group as well, perhaps it's Frankie's boy/girlfriend? But they still come back all the time, I just haven't been able to take decent photos of Frankie or the group lately.

Hey pigeonwriter, it seemed he's as healthy as a pigeon. The other day I looked through the window of the balcony door, and one of the parents was feeding him, but as soon as they spot me they stopped and Frankie tippy-toed back to his hiding place. At first I was worried that maybe he was disabled and couldn't walk, but he can.
But this pigeon family is very jumpy, no matter how much I show myself or hang out around them; I remain that big scary thing. If I move very slowly and make my every move known they'll sit tight, but they take off if I come too close. Most pigeons in The Netherlands are like that, except for those in big cities like Amsterdam, but the city where I live in, wild pigeons scare easily and I have no idea how to get them get used to me.
But Frankie is a little over 3 weeks old now, so I don't think trying to pet him or pick him up would be the best idea now, I'd probably scare him half to death if I tried now, I should've done that earlier on maybe. I've often been tempted to pick him up, but his parents are the very opposite of tame. And I'd also be too scared that if Frankie did get very used to me, he wouldn't feel threatened by other people, even the wrong ones.
I want to cuddle the little thing, but at the same time I want nature to do its job, and it doesn't always work as a combination.

Hi Aydin - I would not worry too much about Frankie - pigeons can be very different characterwise. If you want to make sure he's healthy pick him up and check out his skin, his beak and eyes - you need not worry about the mother not coming back. She certainly will. Our pigeon family has become so tame that the babies jump on my hand while father and mother sit not far from me - 1 m - on the balustrade, watching me what I do with their chicks and even feeding them in my presence...it's so sweet!
